Edward Lasquete is an Olympian, coach, and executive who has spent more than 30 years helping shape the future of Philippine sports through service and innovation.
A three time Southeast Asian Games pole vault gold medalist, Lasquete represented the Philippines at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games after winning consecutive SEA Games titles from 1991 through 1995. He also became the first Southeast Asian athlete to clear the five-meter barrier in the pole vault, setting a Philippine national record that stood for more than two decades.
After his competitive career, Edward dedicated himself to developing the next generation of athletes. As a USA Track and Field certified coach, he has guided California state champions, collegiate standouts, national record holders, and Olympians while coaching at Mt. Pleasant High School and San José City College. His athletes have gone on to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
Today, Edward serves as President and Co Founder of FilAm Sports, where he leads the organization's vision of connecting athletes of Filipino heritage with opportunities to represent the Philippines on the world stage. He oversees athlete recruitment, citizenship initiatives, sponsorship development, and international competition planning while helping create a clear pathway from discovery to the national team.
Edward spent 28 years with AT&T as a Senior Technician specializing in backbone network infrastructure and mission critical communications. Throughout his career, he helped deploy and maintain secure, high availability communications systems supporting Super Bowl events and United States military operations. His responsibilities included network deployment, command center operations, fiber optic infrastructure, and redundant power systems where reliability was never optional.
Working in environments where failure was not an option shaped Edward's approach to leadership. He earned a reputation for solving complex challenges, building dependable systems, and delivering under pressure with precision and consistency.
That same mindset defines his work today. Edward combines the discipline of an Olympian and the experience of a championship coach to build opportunities for athletes.
